Back in town

I'm back in town for awhile after going up to the Sundance Film Festival for awhile and then going to Vegas less than 24 hours after arriving back in LA last week. It's kinda nice to be back in town and sleep in my own bed but Vegas was a damn good time. Sundance wasn't half-bad either.

I arrived in Sundance as Barrack was being sworn into the presidency and heard most of the inauguration on the radio. I also saw the video footage on all the news channels while I was curled up in a ball of sickness of my hotel room couch.

That's right, a ball of sickness. I came down with the flu as I was driving to Sundance. Steve (the dude I drove to Sundance with) had just taken over driving from me and I was getting some sleep. It was probably around 5 in the morning when I woke up and told Steve to pull our truck over.

I hopped out of the truck on I-15 North and hurled on the soil of Utah. It was bright red from the gatorade I had been drinking earlier mixed with the pizza I had for dinner and chex mix I was snacking on. I also managed to get some splatter on the bottom of my jeans which I had to wear the rest of Sundance (although no one noticed except for Steve when I told him on the trip back).

I was in rough shape the rest of the trip. My stomach was in a constant state of flux and I spent a fair amount of time desecrating the toilet of my hotel room. I knew I was in rough shape because I was at Sundance and all I wanted to do when I wasn't working was wrap myself in a blanket and sleep.

The upside though is that my first business trip was to the Sundance Film Festival. It was still cool to be there and go to ChefDance and Harry O's. ChefDance is a premiere dining event at Sundance where some of the top chefs in the country cook extravagant meals for the patrons and people hang out and socialize with everyone around them.

I saw a few famous people at ChefDance and tried my best to enjoy the meal despite my stomach situation. People at my table kept asking me why I was so quiet, this one drunk lady in particular, and I was less than thrilled to keep announcing I was coming down with the flu. Nothing makes a girl hot like saying you're contagious and can make them puke and have disgusting diarrhea.

The following evening I was starting to feel a little better. I drank some tea and had some soup. After "Where Music Meets Film" I was feeling pretty good (I did puke a tiny bit in the bathroom while we packed up the sound equipment but I felt great after I got that out of my system) and I went to Harry O's and caught the last half of Common's performance. It was pretty sweet and he puts on a good show.

Steve and I had a drink and called it an evening. We went back to the hotel around 1am and got some sleep because we were planning on leaving town around 7:30am. Which we did.

The drive back was pretty good. I was feeling great in the morning and bought a donut as we were getting on the road. Not the best idea. My stomach was in rough shape the rest of the trip after that. No puking or rhea but still didn't feel 100%. I was still feeling better and that was encouraging.
