Thievery

This past weekend I made a trip down to San Diego to visit my favorite Wop and check out his new place he moved into since Ashley is moving back to Michigan. What was also cool about the trip was that Jake and Pat were down there visiting as well so it gave me a chance to catch up with them, albeit for a short period of time but it was still nice to see them.

What was not cool about the trip was that I woke up in the morning to find out my laptop had been stolen along with the keys to my office and my cell phone charger. Sweet.

This really sucks but I luckily learned to back most of my stuff up after having computer problems throughout college. I didn't lose anything too significant but it'll just be a pain in the ass getting all new music files, reloading all the necessary software and also buying a new computer (I'm trying trick myself into thinking things could be a lot worse to keep from getting really pissed).

What I'm coming to realize also sucks about this situation is that I probably wont be able to get a motorcycle. I'm going to go ahead and get my license but I don't know when I'll be able to get a bike. I need to put my money toward something more practical like a computer than a bike.

I'm looking at getting a MacBook Pro because I like the mac format a lot more than PC and I also want to get a computer that is a sound investment and quality product, not something that is prone to a lot of viruses, spyware etc. They're really reliable and easy to use computers as long as they don't get stolen.

p.s. On an unrelated note I know I should have more posts up but I'm just trying to get a few things in my life figured out.

Insensitivity

A couple weekends ago I went to a party with Pete and Jon at a really nice house in Beverly Hills that Lance Bass of Nsync fame was renting and Andre Agassi reportedly (and by this I mean Jon told me) bought for about $15 million. We get there and introduce ourselves to some of the people (Pete knew mostly everyone there. Jon and I did not).

We grab some beers from the fridge and continue with our evening of drinking (I had done a lot of drinking at my house before we went over there). We gave ourselves a guided tour (there's a video somewhere Jon made. It's really quite good. You should watch it if you feel like contacting Jon) and eventually wound up on some porch with one of Lance's really good friends from high school that Pete knew from show choir.

I found out that she was from the South (I think Louisiana...) because she had a thick accent. Me being the fun-loving guy that I am decided to tell her how I think all people from the south are morons and probably said they're all in-bred hillbillies (that last part I don't know if I said but I'd assume so. I tell Tyler he's one every time I talk to him).

I didn't think my comments were all that harsh and she was actually fairly intelligent but I just like to believe that all southerners are dumb. Just listen to them talk. Sure the girls sound sweet with their twang and polite demeanor but everyone just sounds dumber (have a conversation with Tyler and ask him about "gigabytes." The stupid red-neck pronounces it "gi-gah-biites." If you don't know Tyler just go to a waffle house sometime and talk to the workers there. They help reinforce my views on the south handidly).

Well apparently my comments stung her overly sensitive nature and she was not thrilled about it. Calling her old probably didn't help either. In my poor defense though I always mock Pete about being old and feel that anyone over 30 should be resigned to me mocking them about their age. It's science.

She apparently was annoyed enough to suggest my friends drop me off on the way over the second night because of my uncensored mouth. To Jon and especially Pete's credit they told the people I was coming with them and would be on better behavior.

When we arrived I got out of the car and apologized. I said my comments were in jest and that I was sorry for offending her. I think I told her that I just have a tendency to make fun of a lot of people because I'm immature (I say I think I said that because once again I had been drinking a lot and don't remember the particulars of this moment. I apologize a lot. Go figure).

I was allowed back in the house and had a couple beers with everyone. The cute girl Jon and I were both hitting on from the night before was sadly not there. She hasn't returned any of Jon's texts either that he's sent since. EPIC FAIL.

But he got her number and I didn't.

Update

I'm highly aware my blogging has been less than spectacular as of late. I (shockingly to most people) just don't have anything that I feel the urge to blog about going on in my life.

Yes, I'm still taking a motorcycle safety class in a week and a half. I'm still searching for a bike to purchase as well but haven't bought anything because I'm trying to be fiscally conservative (damn economy).

I'm still training for the half-marathon which is a little over 5 weeks away (I will need to step up my running though immediately).

My writing is coming along slowly but surely. I'm trying to devote more of my energy to my job and becoming more proficient at it because it's been a little rocky as of late.

I'm getting close to beating all the Tiger challenges in Tiger Woods '09 for Playstation 3. That's taking a lot of energy and dedication.

Public Enemies trailer finally online

The trailer for "Public Enemies" finally popped up online today (or at least I found it on the sites I normally go to) and holy crap does that movie look amazing.

If you've read more entries in my blog (which you damn sure better if you haven't already. They're very funny) you'd know of my love for Michael Mann films, especially "Heat." He's directing "Public Enemies" as well and I have a feeling I'm going to love this movie.

It's about infamous bank robber John Dillinger and him being constantly pursued by the FBI during the 1930's. Johnny Depp plays Dillinger and Christian Bale plays Melvin Purvis, the FBI agent pursuing Dillinger.

There will be great action sequences throughout as well as really great story of the creation of the FBI into the institution that it is today. Michael Mann was able to shoot the movie in the real places that Dillinger committed these crimes. That's just badass.

I dare anyone to watch the trailer and not be excited for the movie. Johnny Depp is going to deliver a phenomenal performance and be one of the great bad guys of the last 10 years (right up there with Heath Ledger in "The Dark Knight).

Easy Riding

I'm pretty excited because in a month Jon and I (and maybe Pete if he changes his mind) are taking motorcycle safety classes in part of the process to get my California Drivers License (as well as motorcycle license). It'll be over the course of one weekend and after that we'll both (hopefully) have certificates of completion.

Now is probably the best time for me to get a motorcycle. I'm young, my family is already used to me partaking in semi-dangerous activities, and with gas prices being high this would be an excellent every-day vehicle.

Well Jon is looking at a Kawasaki Ninja, I am looking at more of a cruising bike. I'm definitely not opposed to a "crotch-rocket" like the Ninja, especially since they tend to run a little cheaper, but I want more of a cruiser type.

The Honda Rebel is one of the bike's I'm interested in getting first. From what I've read it's a great beginners bike. Has plenty of power but not tons where I'd be likely to lose control.

Southern California is a great place to own a motorcycle. It's nice enough for me to ride a bike 90% of the time and it'd make getting around town a lot easier. Plus, (and hopefully) I'd look a little more badass to all the cute ladies out there.

And there are a lot of cute ladies in LA. A lot.

back to the whale's vagina

I'm heading back to San Diego (aka the Whale's Vagina) this weekend to see Mr. Spicy Meat-a-Ball himself and the Whale's Vagina herself. We will have a lot of fun and we will get really drunk.

And we'll probably make some BLD's.

UPDATE - Thought I'd put up a pic of Ashley since I'm stoked to see her also. It's not as entertaining as the one of Dave and I.
