The trailer for "Public Enemies" finally popped up online today (or at least I found it on the sites I normally go to) and holy crap does that movie look amazing.
If you've read more entries in my blog (which you damn sure better if you haven't already. They're very funny) you'd know of my love for Michael Mann films, especially "Heat." He's directing "Public Enemies" as well and I have a feeling I'm going to love this movie.
It's about infamous bank robber John Dillinger and him being constantly pursued by the FBI during the 1930's. Johnny Depp plays Dillinger and Christian Bale plays Melvin Purvis, the FBI agent pursuing Dillinger.
There will be great action sequences throughout as well as really great story of the creation of the FBI into the institution that it is today. Michael Mann was able to shoot the movie in the real places that Dillinger committed these crimes. That's just badass.
I dare anyone to watch the trailer and not be excited for the movie. Johnny Depp is going to deliver a phenomenal performance and be one of the great bad guys of the last 10 years (right up there with Heath Ledger in "The Dark Knight).
Jon and Pete officially kick ass. They went above and beyond in a way I never expected them to for my birthday. They got me a poster for the movie "Heat" (arguably my favorite movie of all time) in a really nice frame and it was autographed by MICHAEL MANN!
The autograph says "Happy Birthday George!! - Michael Mann" I got two (!!) exclamation points! I had a Mr. Spicy Meat-a-ball size shit-eating grin on my face all night (Dave always walks around with a giant, shit-eating grin on his face. Probably because he considers eating shit a delicacy).
Michael Mann is the director of the movie and one of my favorite directors if not the top favorite. From what Jon and Pete told me it was quite an adventure to get the poster signed. For them doing that I will probably now do anything they ask of me short of certain illegal activities (not all though).
I'll get a pic of the autograph up soon. It's a thing of beauty.
p.s. Happy Birthday Michael Mann!! (it's his b-day today and just thought I'd return the favor)
